Al Pacino: Pathos, the football coach tries to get his team going by giving anecdotes from his own life, gives the definition of football that gets HIM going, and tries to get the crowd hyped by touching their emotions.
William Wallace: The method that William Wallace used to get his people motivation is that he asked them rhetorical questions, used a little humor when he was talking about himself, and this made him look like the way he is, an ordinary person just like everyone else, who is looking for his own freedom and won’t back down unless he dies.
The Dictator: The technique that the director used is really interesting in terms of using the appearance of Adolf Hitler as the person who gives the speech. The humor inside the scene is that the speech is about humanity and equality. The very opposite of what Hitler supported. There was pathos and ethos because he was calling out the people who were being tortured not just in Germany but in the whole world.
V for Vandetta: V called out London by giving himself as an evidence to the tortures that the government does to people and blames the English people for those unfair events that happen. He refers to the bigger community, to all of the citizens that stand by his side in his fight with the government.
TWBB: The aim of the guy who gave the speech to his community is to get people standing together in a job of finding oil in order to have some solid sources and strive to be a great country. The guy used logos when he was referring to the problem and the solution of the problem.
Any Given Sunday -Al Pacino: Pathos because he is using emotions. For emotions he is making emphaty with the football team, he told the team stories about him.
Braveheart- Mel Gibson: Pathos because he motivated the warriors with his freedom speech. He asked what they will do without freedom. He also uses humor in the beginning of his speech.
The Dictator- Charlie Chaplin: He uses Pathos because he told that everyone is equal. He told bad things happened because of the discrimination. He tried to make people to emphasize withe people who were discriminated. He told "You have humanity in your heart…" I think all those things he told brought lots of emotion to both audience and him.
V for Vendetta- Hugo Weaving: Ethos because he uses lots of ethichal things. He mentions about terorism, killings… He told the audience "if you want to find the guilty look in the mirror."
There Will Be Blood- Daniel Day Lewis: He uses logos in his speech. He convinces people with giving a problem and a solution.
Any Given Sunday: The coach makes it so that all the players feels like nothing else matteres but winning the game. He tells them that living is not being afraid to fight for the thing you desire or even die trying, he also adds a bit humor whilst touching the emotional side of the players.
Braveheart: He emphasizes and makes it clear that life without freedom isn’t life. This motivates people into fighting for their life since his speech is very emotional and daring.
The Dictator: He criticises the whole social system. He defends that humans are ethically kind yet greed has poisoned the soul and machinery had defied us, by saying these words he is using logic and unites everyone under the same roof.
V for Vendetta: He made everyone look in the mirror and see the true evil. He tells that he knows they were afraid making everyone step out of their make believe world and out to reality which results in people having internal conflicts.
There will be blood: The guys aim is to fool everyone by persuading them into finding oil all together for one main cause. He uses logos when trying to persuade the town folk.
Any Given Sunday: The coach makes an emotionally charged speech and make the players believe only their option is winning. In one part where he says "on this team we fight for that inch, on this team we tear ourselfs and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch, we claw with our fingernails for that inch" he shows how passionate they feel about winning.
Braveheart: He points out freedom is not free. You should fight in order to be free. In his speech there were really powerful rhetoric questions such as" would you be willing to trade all the days from this one, for one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives but they will never take our freedom?" indicating freedom worths dying for.
The Dictator: Charlie Chaplin blames the system and dictators because of poisoning human souls. He says "dictators free themselves but enslave the people" he uses logic in order to unite every kind of people including Jews, black exc.
V for Vendetta: He emphazises the fact which is people are afraid of government. Where he says "if you want to find the guilty look in the mirror'' he wants people to acknowledge their faults of letting govenment do whatever they do. He makes the audienceto take action
There will be blood: He tries to persuade the people to believe he that he has no bad intention. He uses logos where he says "so let's build a wonderful schoool, these children are the future that we strive for" meaning school is essential and if you let him use their lands, then he can make a school for your children.

Braveheart: In Mel Gibson's speech he used patriotism and freedom as his main topic. He encouraged the army to fight with him against a big army. At the begining everbody knew him from the legends told to them but after they met him they understood that he is a human like them.
The Dictator: In Charlie Chaplin's speech he used the humanity to guide him. He told everyone that they are not machines and they should act for their freedom.
V for Vandetta: In Vandetta's speech he showed guilty for that community. That was the folk because they were the one who chosed them. I think he effected them very well.
There will be lood: The character acted by John Proctor pursuaded them saying them he took the oil to make school. He didn't really want them to do something he only wanted to suppress them and he succeeded.

Nowadays, people do what they do without passion and eager because they often forget WHY they do it in the first place. In the motivational speech, Al Pacino successfully demonstrated the link between life and football. He explained that you’re not living unless you’re not willing to fight, and taking the risk to die for success, and your teammates.

Fear is one of the most powerful emotions that drives people to act. In the speech scene, there was a high chance that desperate men, getting ready for a battle were indeed feeling fear. However, Mel Gibson managed to make them believe in themselves and motivated them by a rhetorical question: “How would life be without freedom?”

The speech Charlie Chaplin gave was engrossing, self-reflecting and uniting. Being dressed up as Hitler and talking about ethics made a huge contrast. He used Ethos to motivate people to act for the love of the world. Being truthfully honest and making critics about greed also made the audience question themselves.

Hugo Waving’s speech was brilliant due to the fact that he said what no one had the guts to say. He didn’t just put the blame on the government for all the issues; he reminded the people that it was them whom are responsible. Throughout the history, the most convincing and manipulating speeches were obviously done by politicians. Knowing what the audience desires is essential for a speech. In the movie, Lewis used the villagers’ weaknesses and came up with facts (logos) to persuade them.

People do what they do without passion and teamwork because they often forgotten why they do it in the first place. Al Pacino shouts while giving his speech in order to the power of teamwork also Al Pacino demonstrated the link between life and football. He explained that you’re not living unless you’re not willing to fight, and taking the risk to die for success, and your teammates success.

In this speech Lewis used the villagers’ weaknessnes and came up with the facts which they already knew about to persuade them. He uses logos while persuading them.
Al Pacino- He uses anecdotes for an effective speech. Uses ethos because he wants them to have connections with ethics and mentions how to have difference between them and al pacino’s team- that 1inch. States being a team and that is also ethics mixed with pathos.
Braveheart- Mentions freedom and that is ethos because it’s about ethics. He tries to make people go wild after the thought of being free.
Dictator- The speech is ethos because he mentions about greediness, speaks about torture and how the humanity lost their feelings and the things that they believed in(the ethical appeals). He says to soldiers that they are not machines and they have the power to create a new decent world.

The effects of ethos are seen in that speech. Because there is a call to fight for freedom. So the convincing part of that speech is based on the belief.

Any Given Sunday – Al Pacino
Al Pacino successfully manages to inspire people in his motivational speech. He explicates the link between daily life and football. In this speech, he focuses on the idea with the football refence that if you're not willing to fight, not taking risks at all, you literally are not living your life at all.
Braveheart - Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson used the freedom and nationalism themes to attract the listeners in his speech. He emboldened the listeners to fight for their freedom - he used ethos to make people understand that life without freedom is not worthy living.
The Dictator - Charlie Chaplin
Charlie Chaplin, in his speech in this movie, used his emotions (pathos) to point out how peace is being overtaken by disagreement, hatred, and anger. He critizices the system that we're living in as the main problem source. Also there is ethos here being used because he doesn't agree with the system and wants to fight against it, supporting the idea that soldiers aren't machines.
V for Vendetta - Hugo Weaving
This is one of my favorite speeches of all time in movies. Hugo Weaving, in this speech lets his real self arise and smack the people with the real truth. He doesn't only blame the government, but at the same time, he reminds the people who are blaming the government that they are the problem. This speech is motivational but at the same time gives the listeners a essence of guilt.

Daniel Day Lewis, a politician, gave his speech about peasants and how they're weak and affecting the society throughout the history. He gave out facts to support his idea, but in my opinion this one speech was weaker than the others. I think the reason for that is ethos + pathos are stronger than logos in speeches.

In his speech, Al Pacino first uses religion -hell and heaven- to describe the situation they are in, because he knows that religion is one of the common things people share. So we can say there was some kind of ethics in it, when he says “Gentlemen, we are in Hell right now. We have to do everything to get to the light.” Other than that, throughout the speech, he talks about an “inch,” to, again, talk about a sharing figure.

Mel Gibson’s speech was also ethical, with a little bit of humor at the beginning, because he talked about freedom, which was an idea that all the audience shared. He talked about how they will regret it if they don’t and they will have “a while” if they run away.

In his speech, Charlie Chaplin mostly focuses on pathos when he says “We should look out our feelings, not our logic” and “you have the power to create happiness.” He indicates people should listen to their humanities and not to their higher authority, which is logical in that situation.

Al Pacino-its the guy whose willing to fight will be the winner. Not trying is worse then losing. His speech with his team was that he wanted to show his team that they can walk forvard even if it’s an inch.

Braveheart- what would you do for freedom. The sentence that he says at the end of the speech, he talks about how the wars will kill however they will take their freedom back. He knows and everyone knows that there will be people that are going to die and even maybe themselves will die however they will get their freedom.Ethos-freedom.

I think that the speech he made was pathos. He connected football to real life very well and make them more eager to fight for that 1inch. He used anecdotes to emphasize that there is no other option just winning He did this telling about his self in order to effect them emotionally . Also, by saying "Either we heal as a team or we will die as individuals." he charged team sprit to players and make them strong emotionally.

"What will you do for freedom?Fight?" This is a rhetorical question which makes the countryman think that are they really come to run or die for taking freedom back?. He emphasized that with freedom life is life and it worths everything for freedom. To sum up, he used ethos to motivate and encourage them by telling freedom which is everything and what they should live for.

In his speech he absolutely used ethos to motivate people to treat for the love of the world. "We want to live by each others happiness not by each others misery." He effects people's mind by using ideological opinions. He wants people help each other. He reminds people that soldiers fight for liberty, not for slavery, So, humanism is the main ideology in this speech. With rhetorical questions, empathy and ideological connections he encourages people.

By saying "There is something wrong with this country." he want citizens think logically and wants them to be aware of the wrong system that rules their lives. So, he used logos. Also, by telling a memory which is from hundreds of years ago about a citizen who shows that justice and freedom is more than words, makes his speech more reliable. Secondly, ''If you are looking for the gulty,you need to look in to a mirror." this sentence makes people think about the truth. Reality is not the life they are living, it is hidden behind it. And this is ethos.

Logos because he gives facts about education. Education makes future possible. He tells people that by educating children good future is possible. "Education is an essesity." This sentence has the idea of what he thinks and plans.
