For this assignment, you must present a 50 - 100 words synopsis of a media event that you have found and read using the links (your weekly "what's going on in your world" sources....) on our blog. In class we are learning how to offer insight into events and art, so use this as a first practice of your own. Please be clear to include the title of the article and what news source it is from (this is not part of the word count and should be placed it at the beginning of your post like a title). Beyond just telling us what happened, try to offer insight into "why" it happened or "what" may be the consequences. Use the questions from yesterday's lesson. You need to define the -ism clearly so that the connection is clear to you and the reader. You don't have to quote exactly from a dictionary - you can use your own words to express your understanding. There is a lot going on in our world today so you should have trouble finding an interesting article about a current event. Have fun and challenge yourself!

Bombing in Manhattan
The New York Times journalists Marc Santora and Al Baker wrote an article about the explosion that happened the previous Saturday night. According to them, the police and federal agents are now looking for a 28 year old man named Ahmad Khan Rahami. The Americans suspect that the terrorist might have some international connections to other groups of terrorist. I felt bitter while reading this article because the federals might be right and I am deeply miserable because other people link these attacks to Islam and the Turks. I hope everything goes well and the federals catch the criminal.

“F.B.I Treats Minnesota Mall Stabbing Attack as 'Potential Act of Terrorism” -The New York Times
Taking credit in any sort of scene is an essential part if you want people to know you. That was what the Islamic State did for a stabbing attack at a mall in Minnesota. After the F.B.I started looking at the case, the Islamic State claimed the act by saying, the stabber was a “soldier of Islamic State.” While they're, obviously, not trying to hide and want people to be scared of them, there might be a planned social impact after these several attacks. The Islamic State might want more people to support Trump's “banning Muslims from entering the US” promise and make even more Muslims angry; to manipulate them to use as soldiers.

According to article, Mr Turnbull is take part in Leaders Summit on Refugees hosted by Obama. This meeting will be hope for them. Prime Minister told that "our policy on border protection is the best in the world". And in their policy call "Current Policy" which is about to take care of them. I hope this meetings have a good result for refugees and world.

The main point of this article was telling the reader how a man tried and succeeded on hacking Apple which is incredible. Him and his wife killed 14 people lately in California and now a professor from the University of Cambridge is working on a new strategy that involves counting every chance of the password codes on the hacker's account. He did 40 hours of work for a 4-digit code and admitted that it would have taken ages to figure out a 6-digited one. In my opinion the reason the hacker has done this was to scare the world by how 4 numbers can control their whole lives.
North Korea's ground test of rocket engine is 'a success'!
BBC Asia news posted this article 4 hours ago explaining to the world that the North Korean ground test of their rocket engine had been a success. According to the article, Kim Jong Un, North Korea's leader asked his engineers and scientists to make preparations for their satellite as soon as possible. From what has been read, we can understand that China is fed up of North Korea's aggressive rhetoric. UN Security Council has banned the state from carrying out any nuclear or ballistic missile tests anymore. I hope North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un knows what he is doing...
Russia is seriously running out of cash
CNN news reported that Russia was bleeding cash really fast and gave valid points to support it. These assumptions are based on their ability to sell one oil barrel for 50$. It talks about how long they have been in recession and their rainy fund has shrunk rapidly. It talks about how Russia had 524 billion but now that it has only 395 billion in their banks. This could have lots of effects to Turkey swell because Russia helps us with most of our problems they will start to lose their power in the economy and it will hurt us too.

Ben Hubbard wrote an article about two different sites that are named Poylygamy.com and Secondwife.com. The common quality of these two sites is they both support polygamy. “A polygamist is someone who practises polygamy. Most commonly this will be one man with multiple wives and this is becomes family unit”. These sites humiliate women. This is insulting not only because of multiple wife or husband, also these sites support man to have multiple wife. In both ways it is wrong in my opinion. It makes me feel like women and man are not equal; women are less important.

This news post from New York Times is about how long America been in a war with Afghan's and why they don't want to talk about it. You might ask why they aren't talking about it since there is a growing terrorist movement on America. America is has a big military and they can't say that they lose a war to a little country like Afghanistan. If they say that their military will lose reputation and will cause fear to American Citizens. After this conflict America probably going to increase there soldier and will invest in military equipment to get a better results in situations like these.

Ceo of Go Pro, Nick Woodman, has announced the brand new Go Pro action camera and its drone. Bbc news reported that the new acton camera had made more splash than the latest released Iphone. BBC also indicated that Nick Woodman had been very excited. In adition to that Go Pro is expected to turn a profit in this year. The key selling point of this action camera is a gimball which allowes you to record without any shake. The drone costs 799$ without any camera. If you decide to buy with the Hero5 Black it costs 1,099$. For me it is a great inovation. Turkey needs theese kind of inovation to improve its economy. In next 5 years what is Go Pro going to do? What are they going to do make profits? I am very excited. How about you?

"Video Released in Terence Crutcher’s Killing by Tulsa Police" - New York Times
This article written by Liam Stack is mainly about a white police officer shooting an unarmed black citizen who was raising his hands while standing near a vehicle that was blocking the road. Apparently he had his hand behind his back when the police officer saw him and 30 seconds later the police officer walked behind him and shot him. The Federal Justice Department started investigating this horrible event. In this situation, I think the police officer had some kind of conflict that involved racism because that is surely not a reason to shoot someone.

I"m thinking about the people that still live there because they are tremble with fear. Lot"s of bomb and gun sound everyday and also it defect the psychologhy. Also they are hungry and trying to survive.

The article written by Neetl Upadhye transmits the idea that racism unfortunately still exists in twenty first century. Students in Pretoria High School for Girls are protesting against what they call racist school policies. The main question is are the protesters are right to revolt against school? They say they are not allowed to speak their native languages or keep their Afros. I strongly believe under the same firm conditions, anyone would have done the same. I felt dissappointed after reading the article, because it made me disgust to see years have not changed the sensation to the African-Americans.

This article talks about how the government believes that driverless cars will make the nations highways safer with more cars driven by machines not people. “We envision in the future, you can take your hands off the wheel, and your commute becomes restful or productive instead of frustrating and exhausting,” said Jeffrey Zients, director of the National Economic Council, he also pointed out that highly automated vehicles “will save time, money and lives.” Since this technology is rather new I believe it is not very wise to trust our lives with machines, these cars also do not have the ability to oversee and prevent the actions of other human drivers which makes it a bit more sketchy but I believe that as time goes by this innovative design will be a huge succes.

This article written by Michael Hayden from ABC News is about a black man who was shot by a white police officer while he was raising his hand and telling that he is not guilty. Their reason to shoot the black guy was "He refused to follow commands given by the officers,”. I think that shooting a person, especially fatally, should not be so easy, because we are talking about taking a humans life which is a very serious and important thing. I think that black guy had followed the commands as we can see in the footage and he should not be shot, police officer may had a conflict with black people or racism.

In my opinion, it is very difficult to endure the pressure of the modern world however, the tribal Tibetans whitstand that and protect their traditions.

Killing someone for justice for other people safety is a Police officer’s job, however in this news the big problem is not the fact that police officer killed a man, she killed a man who’s unarmed and was just a suspect. According to police helicopter’s camera Terence Crutcher ,man who got killed by the police officer, was following the police officers commands. There is a one important information that I didn’t mention about was Terence being black, this directly makes us think that what the officer did was racist, still in our times we can see recisms examples. Terence’s sister was talking about how her twin goes to church and sings with church’s choir, he talks about him being a dad. In police helicopters camera an officers says that “Looks like that’s a bad dude, maybe on something”, his twin finished her sentence by saying "That big 'bad dude' loved God; that big 'bad dude' was at church singing, with all his flaws, every week. That's who he was. And because he was a “bad dude” his life mattered” after her statement the interviewer had to finish the subject cause it was going beyond the topic, the topic was becoming general and was turning into a racism problem. Lastly we can just hope that people there will maintain the peace.

For many years people, especially girls, didn't have the right and permission to go to school and improve their skills in their societies; Instead, they have been forced to get married in an early age in order not to be a burden for their families. So as it can be seen from the article this issue is still continuing in today's world and influence people from different regions. In my opinion it is unjust for people not to be able to reach opportunity for education sufficiently and effectively.

As we can see from the title of the article, acts of terrorism, violence and war are going on in our world. The article states the fight and shooting between gang members. Two men are found guilty of driving to another mans house and shooting him dead. The article does not state the reasons behind the act of violence because it is a report article. These kinds of news can be found in almost every news website or newspaper.

He is now suspected due to blowing up a bomb in New York City. Consequently, we can see that there is a huge problem about some kinds of people who really unaware of what the right to be heard is and what terrorism is.

Chelsea Bombing: What We Know and Don’t Know
This news article covers the story of the bombing and an attempted bombing in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan on Saturday night.
The man, Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, was taken into custody. His motive for the bombing is unknown but employers of the family’s restaurant said he disappeared around four years ago, probably left for Afghanistan, and when he came back his personality changed considerably. They said he became more emotionless grew a beard and started praying in the back of the restaurant. “We have every reason to believe this was an act of terror,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a news conference on Monday. This act still fuels the ongoing fear of Islam and muslims in America, which can lead to more discrimination and misjudgment of innocent people. This can also be the main reason why a lot of Muslims are misjudged and misunderstood, the people are afraid of them and the media helps it to keep it that way.

"Number of smokers in England drops to all-time low"
Using cigaret is one of the dangerous and deadly thing in the world. When you smoke, you harm your body and who is near to you. In England the number of smokers more and more on the decreases. In 1974, over 50% of men were smokers; that had fallen to 19.1% of smokers in 2015. One might as well say, the woman smokers per. was over than 40% . And in 2015 woman smokers was only 14.9% This year, the number of smokers in England has fallen to lowest level. Today's percentage is just 16.9% of adults in England smoke now. But 200 people still die prematurely every day in England because of the fact that heart attacks, strokes and breathing problems caused by smoking. I think the writer try to send us a message. The message is about smoking cause us risky life more than we imagine. People can cut to smoke, but it doesn't mean that when we drop to smoke, our body will become healthy as before. Smoker's body is already damaged. And it'll takes too long to change back. So, the message is be careful before it's not late.

The suspects were French and Tunisian and also they had link to Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel. They managed escape from Nice but they arrested in the south-eastern Alpes-Maritimes region and for this event the French authorities say no evidence has been found that Isis administrate the attack. Lastly, The interior minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, said that 300 people had been arrested because of terror attack. These arrests makes me feel so relaxed and pacified but terrorism is growing day by day so I am worried for the world's and people's future. People are losing their trust towards other people so it affects daily life. As a result, people are forced to take a restless life .

Terrorism is active in nearly all countries in the world, so it is a global problem. They are making bloody attacks for ruin the peace in the world. Terrorist was found, and he is Afghan. 2 years ago his dad reported his OWN SON that he is a terrorist, and according to the news he still accepts his son as a terrorist. I think this is one of the most tragic thing that a dad accepts. I am really sad for his dad. Unfortunately, terrorists are washing young people's brain, and make them terrorists in some ways.

Muslim women face German job barriers-BBC News
The article is about Muslim womens and especially womens that have Turkish names or headscarf are being treated unfair on job applications. In Germany there has been found evidence of job distinction according to an university research. This event reminds me some of the people in my sphere that has a harsh prejudice against religious people, and it is so false and preposterous to behave discriminatorily by their looks or their names.

On 20th of September 2016 a black (probably) muslim woman was walking into a mall and a white man started shouting at her and swearing. I think this is very racist. These things happens because some black and muslim people done bad things to Europe and USA but seeing all these people same is the worst thing to do, because some white people have also done bad things to their own country. The thing that the white man is doing is very wrong but he is also right fot himself at somepoint. He has to change the vay of seeing the life. The article which is posted on September 20 talk about how UK is building a wall to block refugees. Charities say the wall will force people to take even greater risks. In my opinion this wall is built to protect their country. I think this protection is unsuitable because in this time as humanity we should all be together to solve that refugee- immigrant problem instead of building walls. Walls are used to separate one place from another. This is exactly a separation of refugees. I felt a disappointed because I was expecting a union instead of that kind of separation.

The article mainly talks about the aid lorries that have been hit in syria today. It is dissapointing because Turkey were trying to help Syria so much in last 27 days, and there have been a truce. This means it isn't finished yet and the attacks will keep coming to help form Turkey and UN.
Turkey has pushed the terrorists (DAEŞ) for 20 (or 70) kilometers into the Syria and they cleaned the area in order to make some place for the refugees to stay. Turkey has to help Syria in order to reduce the refugee number in the country. They are trying to make them go back to their homeland. 27 days ago they tought they were very close to that but after the aid lorries were hit, they probably will not achieve their goal for a while.
A news report from intependent.co.uk that is about a young nurse getting kicked in the face for wearing shorts in a bus in Turkey caught my attention today. The man who is responsible first shouts "those who wear shorts must die!" then, he kicks her in the face. The bus driver refuses to take this woman to a hospital or police station. This news report makes me scared. I am scared of this happenning to me or any other woman ever again just becuase of what we wear. No human being should be afraid to get beaten up because of what they chose to wear.

U.S brags about how free and kind they are as a country, but recently some presidental candidates support being unkind towards other cultures. They dont want muslims and multicultural soceity. One woman talked about, how these thoughts are wrong. America is much better because of the values people share. Assimilating a Country's culture limitis other people's freedom.

Article: Boko Haram Rages in Nigeria, but the World’s Eyes Are Elsewhere

Boko Haram is a group of Islamic terrorists that rejects the authority of the Nigerian state. They also don’t want any Western education and influence. They have killed thousands of people in Nigeria. And, I think that colonization caused some people to rebel against the Europeans and their system. Although there are lots of people dying because of Boko Haram, United Nations doesn’t raise enough money for those people in need. It may sound harsh but I think UN wants to decrease the population of Nigeria so that they can control the state easily.
