You will suggest to your
fellow Enlightenment philosophers ideas to construct a new society based on
your view of human nature. Write a brief blog post describing human nature as
you see it; this will be your thesis statement. Then offer critique of the current social structure, explain why it
goes against/goes with our human nature. Try to be specific and mention particular aspects of Turkish society. Then suggest ways in which we could
alter the social structure to be more in tune with our real nature. How do you envision the social contract to be? What type of political system will exist? How will social relationships improve? Have fun with this assignment and challenge yourself to think differently!!

Humans in nature are selfish and they literally have no incentive to work collaboratively with others because it's not possible to get better results if you're thinking about others as well. Humans are profit-maximizing creatures.
In Turkey at the moment, firms that government used to own are now being privatized, which is perfect for development and progress towards the better. As I mentioned before, having the same wages to all the people in the economy creates discouraged workers because regardless of the work they present, wages are stable and they don't get the extra benefit from working more. This diminishes the progress of improving and creates stable economies. Now in Turkey, the government owns barely anything and this has affected the facts about the economic development of Turkey too. In the last 10 years, real gross domestic product (measure of the value of things produced in a year, welfare in other words) has increased drastically. It’s another way of saying: economy has developed.
Since my main point is economy, I feel confident to keep writing and relating my points to economy. Well, our economy can still be developed. The way is simple: our policies should point capitalism. More firms should be privatized, incentive to work should be put, more firms should be opened in order to have competition and increase the total welfare.
For me, capitalism is a perfect world where people get what they deserve. Otherwise, it would not be equal. It’s better to imagine being equal to a directly proportional equation, everybody receives accordingly. I mean, we’ve seen the examples of communism in the past and how idle it was, communism ended up failing and lead to a worse economy. Capitalism fits to the essentials of the real world as well, real life is brutal, unlike the way communists think, and being emotional would be your end.
With capitalism, social relationships will improve since everybody’ll be thinking towards their benefit. And if everybody does what’s best for him, overall relationships will be stronger due to the fact that people will be more confident with their choices. They’ll be more confident with their choices because everything’s in their favor.
Overall, being emotional does not solve anything and the best results are gathered from acting towards your own benefit because nobody can make the better decisions for you. Otherwise, the potential output would decrease and incentive to work decrease due to the fact that humans are lazy. People would never do their job thinking that somebody else would do it for their account. Humans are profit-maximizing creatures, and they’ll stay like that until the end of time.
Humans?
From the dawn of human history, humans managed to be cruel, brutal, disrespectful yet rational. Because of the re-historic situations conditions men became fearless warriors. Nevertheless those ice-age conditions evolved as the humans did. After a certain amount of time characteristics became crystal clear. There was no doubt that these warrior-like characteristics were injected into the human genome. Uncivilized cavemen still survive in the current developed, modern society. For this reason, humans are selfish askholes, and political systems should be adapted to these parasites. As a recommendation to the royal and loyal part of the society, us, it is no doubt that a new economic system is required for progress.
Progress is defined as forward movement towards destination. Sounds more than easy yet vast numbers of humans are still trying to understand the concept of it. In a rising economy like Turkey government has beyond power. Being strict is considered as a positive thing. On the other hand the Nazi Germany was strict yet the most successful and powerful country in the worlds in those circumstances, if you call success to what they have accomplished. Turkey has been doing stunning in the recent years. Its general domestic product tripled over ten years while the other countries such as Greece are on the cliff of inflations. Being just about to fall down that cliff makes the human wonder: how Turkey is doing this great?
Government worked “pretty” hard to increase the social wealth of the people of Turkish Republic. Laws and regulations under controlled the misbehaving Turks. In general (no offence to anybody, you are an exception) Turks are rude which is a warrior like trait inherited by their ancestors. Nonetheless these traits were unfortunately passed to the next generation and it went and continued to these “modern” days. Questions should be asked: how these brutes can be sustained? Turkey is a great example of the common muddle. In a free market like turkey has which grew dramatically over time and pulls the unemployed foreigners like a magnet, tells to the world anything is possible. However according to the “people of Turkey” they do not receive the wealth and welfare gain. Is it true, not proven by the statistics. Is it false, not proven by the statistics.
As phislopers think and humans eat, there will be always greed and jealousy. As it is seen trough out the history, socialism is a sickness, which infect humans faster than swine flu which slaughter millions of humans. On the other hand capitalism is the cure for the humans. These selfish minded creators can only survive in an environment where they are suited, built and adapted for. There are no huge flaws in the free market. As my friend Adam said: selfishness will drive people in the money making progress. By selling products that people want to buy, the butcher, brewer and baker hope to make money. If they are effective in meeting the needs of their customers, they will enjoy the financial rewards. While they are engaging in their enterprises for the purpose of earning money, they are also providing products that people want. Such a system, Smith argued, creates wealth not just for the butcher, brewer and baker, but for the nation as a whole when that nation is populated with citizens working productively to better themselves and address their financial needs. Similarly, Smith noted that a man would invest his wealth in the enterprise most likely to help him earn the highest return for a given risk level. Adam is beyond right. Every man to him self, which is the initial characteristic resource for men.
So my friends I suggest continuing on the free market, or re-inventing it in the way it was supposed to be which is flawless…
All the people were born free and had only positive ideas, but the society they live in chained them; the ideas of the society made people to think differently and made them selfish. Now we live in the society where everybody thinks only about himself and profit that they can make. Actors and singers earn a lot more money than doctors, teachers and scientists, even though doctors, teachers and scientists are a lot useful to the society. It is very difficult to think nobly in the world where everybody thinks only of earning money. The current society only cares about “wants” rather than “needs”. People do not try to improve the production of needed goods and services; they only pay attention to “wants”, such as: T-shirts, laptops, mobile phones, etc. A lot of companies produce “wants” instead “needs”, because they earn more profit by producing “wants”. I personally think that people should work for their benefit and the benefit for the society. People should start everything from the beginning. All the schools should have the same educational system, so that everybody can get the same level of education, and some people will not be less or more educate than others; this will teach youth that they are all equal and have the same knowledge and that they should not be selfish. Also governments should increase wages of doctors, teachers, scientists and lower wages of artists, singers and football players; this way we can increase the number of educated people and they can form a new society where nobody is selfish. If there are a lot of educated people they will understand what the problem is and form a new society where everybody works for the benefit for their society.
It can be argued that humans in nature are kind, peaceful, generous and compassionate and thus they tend towards selfishness, hatred and sordidness because of the social structure that they are living in. First of all we all come from the same place our mother’s uterus where you know nothing and nothing defines you except your genes. Those times you are pure and clean but after birth we get interaction with other objects, animals and people; we experience new things we have never seen before. We observe and learn. In what we learn there is also a lifestyle than only walking, speaking and writing. We observe humans and their behaviours; later we try to implement it to our own because it seems normal to you since that is what is going around you. This modification period could happen any point in our lives though it happens often in our childhood. While we get used to the lifestyles we live in those thoughts and emotions takes their place in the DNA of humans and inherited. What I am trying to imply is that the humans tend to act like the other and beforehand humans are pure and innocent creatures that doesn't know anything than love and compassion. However I am not saying there should be any corrupt people in this world throughout time. I believe there should be and there will be since we don’t live in a perfect world without any danger. We live in with other organisms and other people. People might live through experiences that other do not and these might trigger some emotions; we all have emotions and the corrupt and selfish people reside from these triggered emotions.
Since it is inevitable to have those emotions like hatred and selfishness because we don’t have power over our nature, what should we do? These corrupt people should be an example to the other to show how humans shouldn't be and these people should lead other to the correct lifestyle; also the corrupt should be behaved with again compassion and understanding by the others so that they be compassionate and caring as babies as we first mentioned. This is a more optimistic way of looking however this isn't how it happened in world from the beginning of societies. The ones with corrupt soul had a desire for power because of their anger and other strong emotions. They easily got that since nobody desired for power in the first place and found ways to maintain or strengthen their power which were cruel and selfish again. They implemented these and spread it thought communities. While people went through these slowly they started to feel the same thing because their lives became awful because of that one corrupt person. This emotions spreads while the people gets weakened even more. And finally we end up with a society feeling hatred, anger and only cares about their own survival and power, which becomes money and a point where it is really hard to turn back because it is in our lives and code.
Humans are positive in nature, however, our social structures prevent us from being creative and helpful. These structures forced people to think for their wants, not their needs. The people before society collaborated with each other; their definition of progress was not for selfish reasons, it was to work together and share. People should be equal and work for the good of their people, not for themselves. Doctors earn more money than factory workers, as an example. The money that comes with it is one factor why people choose it. For example, we can say that most people choose to be lawyers or doctors, not because they enjoy it or are good at it, but because it has high salaries. Cuba provides a lower salary for doctors, however, they are known worldwide for their medical supplies and improvements. The reason behind this is the fact that the doctors that work there do not do it for the money, but because they love their jobs. This is another reason why equality is needed, not only economically, but also educationally. All schools should have the same educational system so that no one could be different. The concept of owning land cannot be fully be destroyed; but can be reduced as much as possible by creating a new concept of collaborating. Communism is argued to fail every time, however was never fully established. The idea of communism is collaborating rather than comparing. There is no dictatorship or no monarchy, people are equal no matter what. People should work not only for their countries, but also for their planet. Poor people may have ideas but not opportunities. If the world united; wars, assasinations and many other events would not occur. We should unite to better our world. People should fight for their world, not their country.
Humans in nature are greedy and classist. They want to be superior from one another. They want to prove to one another that they are better than each other. Being better is what creates incentive to work harder and achieve more. Humans can’t be equal in nature because they have developed a lot over the centuries. If humans were equal, we wouldn’t be as developed as we are right now. We are developed because every human being wants to prove the other one that they are better. They make more sophisticated devices and items to have more power than the other people. Countries create better weapons, healthcare systems and governments to be more powerful than the other countries. They don’t want to be equal. They want to be better. That has been the same since the beginning of time. Even cavemen wanted more food, better shelter and better conditions to live in. They didn’t want everyone to get equal food because they were greedy. They wanted more and more for them selves. An ideal government system would be where there is a government and in that government there are people who are able to control the country. The superior people get a say and so do the people. Not everyone gets a say because some people are not fit to decide certain critical matters. Capital system is the ideal system for a country. There is always a need for classes. If everyone is equal, people just don’t feel like working to achieve something. They need to achieve more from the people who don’t work hard because we need to develop. Classes shouldn’t be so distant there is a formation of monarchy. There should only be room for a little difference that makes people want to work. A doctor and an intern at a company shouldn’t get the same fee. The doctor deservers more and should get more.
Humans are naturally good, yet the goodness of mankind is distorted by the vile incentives established by the society and the political structure of the world we live in today. While a baby wouldn’t be born thinking of world domination and petrol, the greater authorities have constructed the society in such a way that it seems as if the man’s only incentive to progress is to gain power and earn money; however in an ideal Rousseauian world, the incentive should be to work together to achieve more as a whole. What good is a sack of money and a warm comfy bed is to someone, if his neighbor is out in the cold starving to death? All the major advancements in the ancient times were advocated by a large group of people, or even an entire nation, and progressing as a group made the people happier and their reason to work was to help their community develop, not to make profit for themselves. Yet as the centuries went by and the political ideologies formed, money itself became an ideology and inevitably the only real incentive to work. The development of a political structure such as monarchy lead the humanity to believe that possessing power over and higher social status than someone was essential, so if the evolution of humans’ nature and distortion of incentives were to be examined, the corrupt money-seeking social structures would ultimately be the ones to blame. Even in Turkey the meaningless desire to attain the greatest authority tears the country apart, separating our society into two political viewpoints- when we should really be working together to make the nation better for everyone, not just a conservative rightwing or a democratic leftwing person.
To bring out the natural cooperativeness and compassionate goodness in people, it is necessary to form a system where everyone gets what they deserves and does not seek anything more, and the only greater power that can be reached is a one for the entire community. Not to be mistaken with communism where everyone would be “equal”, as putting someone with the potential to become a doctor and someone who can only play sports in the same spot to ensure equality would actually be the most inadequate thing to do. Rather, a way should be found to make the doctor and the sportsperson work together to achieve the best for the society. This will not only develop the nation, but also improve the social relationships: different classes amongst people of various ethnic groups or wealth levels will not exist, thus the “aristocrats” or the “peasants” will simply be “people”, who work together and coexist in peace to maintain what is best for the entire society.
Humans are selfish and destructive most of the time becuase it is the typical nature of the humans.Being selfish, destructive, aggressive and also power maniac...These are the main segments of a human. There are no human that does not want to be powerful in sociaty. This is the reason of some class differences and some different social notions to occur. In Turkey today the class differences in sociaty can be seen really conveniently.Actually government is trying to create this difference.Howecver, also this class differences can be seen really normaly too,as I think, because there should be variation between some people. For example,a guy who is leaving his job at 3pm and works really loosen up should make less money than a guy who works for whole day. This ideology is the main factor behind the improving.
As it can be seen in the previous communist countries the economy was not highly enhanced and this is because the equalism.Equalism is a ideaology that supports everyone is equal in country.Everyone can be equal buy unfortunatly,a person who works less and person who works really hard should not get the equal money. This situation would stop improving of economy.
With capitalism every worker would be highly motivated and also it will push passive workers to work harder. The capitalism will bring improvement to economy and to country. The same thing is happening in Turkey too.But actually it is not happeneing,at first times the trials were really succesful and slowly everyone was starting to get money based on their working hours or quality. However, after the events that happened, government started to blather. The president were really afraiding that he would lose his power and becuase ıf that still we are suffering the conceuquences of this power maniac ideology. This shows that how people are selfish and how can they be maniac when the subject is power.
Are we genetically predisposed towards “evil” behaviours such as selfishness, violence, and cruelty or, is it an unfortunate side effect of our society? This is a question which has repeatedly been asked throughout humanity and the answer has always been vital. Societies have been built up on this one single simple question, and our nature has determined the various astonishing ways we keep these societies stable. In a world which witnesses the struggle between the two conflicting answers to this inevitably controversial question, the simplistic philosophy behind the idea of "the survival of the fittest" exposes how brutal creatures we are that we only allow the strongest to survive and kill the rest without a hesitation.
This vile idea of leaving the weak out without a hesitation has led the mankind to establish one of the most cruel, suffering, sadistic and egoistic social structures of all time; capitalism, which suggests nothing but discrimination derived from unequal social classes and levels. What the fathers of this ideology of capitalism has failed to comprehend are the various and maybe numerous ways to benefit a society as a whole. As the demonstration of John Nash’s game theory in the movie “A Beautiful Mind” shows, every individual can benefit from decisions when one considers what is beneficial not only for himself, but for everyone else as well.
We are no one in the decision of our abilities and the physical and mental characteristics of our body and unfortunately, these are the determining factors of who we become in our lives as servants in the world of capitalism. One can only achieve wealth and free himself from the chains of poverty if he is fortuitous to have nobel ancestors or the necessary talent to become outstanding in one of the rare popular areas of entertainment; such as football, basketball or music. Should we not change the world we live in then? How ethical is it to leave one out of the society because he was not lucky to have quick feet, or an athletic body? Are we really in such desperate need of entertainment, that we are acting ridiculously ignorant and making the lucky ones stars; feeding them with amazing amounts of money which some can not even imagine of.
The desirable, ideal structures which are meant to stay stable and never collapse can never be achieved with such ideologies that build social environments in which every man fights and struggles only for himself. The root of all evil and corruption can only be destroyed with a world which values each individual the same and allows them to work their ways to the top.
